Community Managers should picture their target audience

Interesting read by Jesse Stanchak in Smartblog on Social Media on July 28, 2011:7 questions every social media strategy must be able to answer.  They are:

  1. Who am I speaking to?
  2. What do they want from me online?
  3. What do I want them to do online?
  4. How can I align those actions?
  5. How will I know if it’s working?
  6. How will I keep the ball rolling?
  7. How will this evolve?
We have to agree, but that’s a lot to think about.  And that also denies the surprising force of social media to create new connections and engagements — the power of serendipity.
One approach is to take it slow.  No need to  answer every question right away, the top three are a good start.  Once the community takes form, they can help shape the other questions. But it’s good to know what you are looking for.
